YES! Another YES! Market Coming To Our Area

Thanks to Suzanne for the heads up from the Columbia Heights Listserv:

"I am pleased to announce that Yes! Organic grocery will occupy one of the six retail spaces on the first floor of the Union Row building, located at 14th and V St, NW.

The Union Row project is part of the overall rejuvenation of the U Street Corridor. Yes! Organic will offer residents natural foods as part of a unique shopping experience. Please visit my website for more information.

The 5,000 square foot Yes! Organic grocery is scheduled to open in the spring of 2008. This will be the fifth location for the DC-based grocer. More retailers will be announced soon, including a restaurant, a dry cleaner, and a large national chain store.

Bests,
Councilmember Jim Graham"

I'm worried about the "Large National Chain" coming to our area though. Does anyone know what it is?

And you should be!!! Because we all know that "large national chains" are a scourge on our society!

its cvs or rite aid, they are both competing for a spot

Yes, because the Rite Aid JUST AROUND THE CORNER on U Street apparently isn't enough.

Anyone know if YES! is going to come to GA Ave at those new condos they are building above the metro?

The YES! in Petworth will be going up at 4100 Georgia Ave a few blocks north of the metro.

It's at the corner of Taylor and Georgia. I was near there a few days ago and saw a backhoe, but other than that I haven't seen any more progress. I can't wait until that goes up!

I don't think it's CVS or Rite-Aid. there is the aforementioned Rite Aid one block away, and CVS is going to be putting in a store at the currently vacant storefront next to the African-American Civil War Museum.

Maybe it will be Walgreens? :)

im all for yes! coming close by. i know some folks have a serious whole mortgage thing, but i've found yes! shoppers to be less "more free range than thou"kinda of folks...there's enough pretentiousness in this town already...

I happen to know a thing or two about the project at 4100 Georgia Ave, 4 blocks north of the Petworth metro. The building will be done in approximately February-March 2009, with the store probably open 2 months after that or so, depending on how fast they do their build out.
