PoP 6 month review

Well, I am happy to note that Prince of Petworth has been up and running for 6 months. It has been great. It has gained a devoted following and often gets linked on the Washington Post Express, Wonkette and other sites. I owe its success to you the readers. We are mostly a respectful group and as you have seen we touch upon controversial issues from time to time without degrading into curses and hate. This is good and this is what seperates us from many other neighborhood sites. I read a lot of neighborhood sites and many of them are quite good but I can assure you that our community is among the best in the City. Nevertheless, I would like to make the site better so please take a few moments and let me know your thoughts.

Would you like to see more Real estate coverage?

More Political posts?

More crime/public safety posts?

More meet your neighbor posts?

More restaurant/bar/cafe reviews?

More/less photography?

More links to other local and DC news?

More of my own witty/inane observations?

Other types of posts?

Also, I am looking to expand coverage. I love Petworth and that will continue to be the major focus but I'd like to expand coverage to Columbia Heights, U Street, Logan Circle, and others. Would covering these nearby neighborhoods be of interest? Are there other neighborhoods you'd like to see covered.

Thanks very much for any advice you can give. Please post a comment or email me directly at

I love PoP--I particularly like it when you notice little things, like the wheelbarrow in the garden, and clue the rest of us into them. I like the Meet Your Neighbor posts, too. Basically, anything quirky and neat that you notice is cool. Plus, the controversial posts are great--rare to get to have that kind of conversation, mostly respectful, definitely honest, with this diverse a group. Good luck on your next 6 months!

Personally, I like it just the way it is -- nice little bites of randomness.

Though I do have a personal request, maybe for an upcoming post (if you care) talk up various neighborhood restaurants, which is totally cool. But sometimes a girl just wants to stay home and curl up on the couch with a chick flick. So where can you get decent delivery food in our 'hood? I see a lot of chicken-fish-subs-n-Chinese places, but they look a little on the sketchy side.

Hey PoP, i think you should just do what you do. After all, people started reading to hear about your take on your neighborhood. So just keep rollin' with it.

I'm another fan who likes things pretty much as they are. I'm something of a political junky, so I enjoyed the interviews and hope you'll continue the political postings.

Also, I think I have mentioned living in Takoma, with a similar atmosphere. If you don't mind some slightly north of the 'hood comments, I'll keep posting, and if you get up this way, I'd appreciate your view of my part of town.

Hey, do some Lamond-Riggs coverage if you can.

Try to talk about how great I am sometimes. But if your not going to do that then I like your blog just the way it is.

Maybe more pictures, PoP.

Please don't go political on us; we've got enough d.c. political blogs as it is.

And someone please tell Vague Ponderings that Lamond-Riggs is a different neighborhood! He should go be the Lord of Lamond and leave the Prince of Petworth alone.

I like it the way it is...except when you blog about persons/things/places outside of Petworth. Not a bad thing, per se, but I expect to see Petworth -- unless, of course it is outside Petworth posts that relate to Petworth. I know it is your blog and you can do what you want, but you asked..
Definitely more pictures, and more people stories. All in all, I like it.

Dude, we love you just the way you are. Keep up the good work.

I like it just the way it is. There are plenty of other sites that cover other neighborhoods.

The Ward 4 candidate profiles kick it up a notch above the other lifestyle blogs. I hate for POP to stop being an observant passerby and develop holier-than-thou standards for the critique of restaurant atmosphere or cuisine.
